Thanks to the Grandparents of Isaac, Amelia, Alexandra and parents of Aayush and Charlotte, that came to the classroom and read to the children. It was a special time.

Introducing Hour Of Code

The week before last Mr Armstrong worked with Room 24 introducing them to the website
"Hour of Code" which has an i pad app version. Mrs Dijkstra hopes to use this program as a component of Tinker-time. It requires the children to problem solve and write instructions. We began with a Minecraft theme and later on children can opt for Moana or Star Wars version. This learning builds upon the coding we do with the Osmo Kits and will prepare the class for working with "Scratch" as they progress through the school. James was on hand if  Mr Armstrong had any queries.

Enviro Week Complete

As part of Enviro Week their was a focus on Walking to School. Mrs Dijkstra took photos of some of the events. These children went walking with Funky Feet and came dressed as a Super Hero for Super Walker Day. Children put a leaf on a tree each day they walked to school and went into the draw to receive a prize. Many children in Room 24 participated and enjoyed it!!! What a wonderful Enviro friendly thing to do!

Tinker time begins

This afternoon we started Tinker time in Room 24. We had to read a diagram and make the model using the Brain Box Electronic Sets. We all enjoyed the cool air made by the rotating fan. We were all great at figuring it out by giving it a go and persevering.

Cass the Colour Robber

Mrs Dijkstra read us the story Cass the Colour Robber. As a follow up we drew the main character and sketched our own design for a Colour Robber Stick. Lastly we illustrated the problem and solution in the story.
